José Gaspar Rodríguez
José Gaspar Rodríguez was one of the most well-liked dictators in Paraguay. "José Gaspar Rodríguez de Francia was one of the greatest figures in Paraguayan history" ("Jose Gaspar Rodriguez de Francia").The people named him “dictator for life” in 1816. Rodríguez’s main objective during his rule, was to keep his country completely free and independent. He flourished in what he wanted. He changed the government of Paraguay to a socialistic rule. He closed the country’s borders and gathered all the recourses under defense. Because of José, he caused Paraguay to be the only Latin American country to sustain such a dramatic social revolution.
